ADVE2292- Bennett: Project 1 Logo Lockups
The Netherlands
We are redesigning the Tourism Office logo for the Netherlands, yippee!!!
Here is a link to my Portfolio to skip to the finished results!
- Just click "Current Projects" and it should have the same name as this one.

Things I've learned since researching the Dutch (which is the people of the Netherlands)

- They have a main export of tulips, but their national flower is a daisy.
- Their national animal is a lion
- The national bird is a black winged godwit
- They have a national cheese festival that has been going on since 1266
- They are really economically savvy, so there are TONS of windmills.
- they're sustainable so lots of water
- Lots of big artists were born there (Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Vermeer)
- Their reigning family is the "Orange" family, so their national color is orange.

Pantone: PMS 158 C, Hex Color: #F36C21, RGB: (243, 108, 33), CMYK: (0, 72, 98, 0).
For my mood board, I wanted it to be simplistic while also capturing the more prominent aspects of the Netherlands. It shows the artistic points of the country, while also capturing the historical and prominent aspects of it.
These are the designs I have so far.

The bird is supposed to be representative of the Godwit. I haven't looked into typographic logos or abstract logos, but I'd like to. Of the logos I had illustrated, these were the favorites:
From the above sketches, I picked the middle one because it showed the most cultural inclusion for the Netherlands. From sketch to screenshot of the mess of a logo:
I decided the vertical is not the vibe, and the windmill didn't translate well in other versions. I minimized it to just the flowers. I once again had issues with translating it to a reverse, so I took inspirations from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses logo and ran with it.

Here is the final result:
